After Kallie Moran's husband, Aaron, is killed in Iraq, Kallie asks her law firm to transfer her back to her home town so she can be close to her mother and cousin, Andi.
Now an out lesbian, Andi drags her intimidated partner, Della, to local bars and out-of-control family affairs. Della seems so miserable that Kallie finds herself reaching out to this beautiful, fragile-looking woman.
As Kallie and Della become friends, Kallie witnesses the verbal and emotional abuse Andi heaps on Della. Then comes the terrible night when Andi is no longer able to confine herself to harsh words.
Della flees to Kallie for protection from Andi. In relative safety, she struggles to face the fact that she is a victim of lesbian domestic violence. She is also falling hard for Kallie, her rescuer.
Kallie, meanwhile, is keeping some secrets of her own. She wants to be with Della as much as Della wants to be with her, but she is afraid to embark on her first lesbian relationship.
Resolving these issues could prove deadly....

This is a wonderful romantic story, illustrating beautifully that the heart knows what the heart wants. The focus on domestic abuse is well timed, unfortunately. So many people deal with physical and/or emotional abuse, unheard and unseen. Though this story is about a lesbian couple, the emotional turbulence is the same. Overall the story was good. Would have liked more backround behind Andi's childhood and more history regarding he relationship with both Della and Kallie.
Touches on the very real and serious side of the lgbt+ DV is rarely talked about and the scars it leaves behind
Ms Folger wrights a good story and keeps the reader entertained. I found myself identifying some of her characters with people whom I have known throughout my life. Please continue to keep us readers supplied with your stories Ms Foger! Thank you.
This a good story. The tells the tragedy of alcohol and drug abuse. The story touches on physical and mental abuse and the tragic results. I couldn't put the book down. I read the story with out stopping. I would definitely recommend reading this book. If any one is in an abusive relationship they should read this story and get help.
Oh my gosh! This book was an incredible combination of suspense, love, thrills and chills! Ms. Folger writes so well, she had me feeling compassion for Della immediately. I felt like i knew all of the characters completely by the end of the book. There's also a great love story mixed in with all of the drama! ;o) Ms. Folger proves you can't help who your heart falls in love with! Can't wait for her next book!!
This story is very well written and addresses a problem that most people think only happens in a relationship with a man. Not so. I enjoyed this story because of the love and support of the families. This is my first book with this writer and I look forward to reading all her books.
"Black and Blue Love" by Judy Folger is a wonderful story with a powerful message... It only took me a few hours to finish it, I was captivated…“Domestic Violence” is not a “heterosexual” problem, it is more common in the lesbian community then people want to admit… I highly recommend just for the eye opening experience!!
